Chemicals to Avoid in your Skincare Products

Skincare products boast a lot of claims these days. Some of these products however, contain substances that may not agree with your skin and could cause problems. Before purchasing one of the many beauty products on the market, check to see if they contain any chemicals from our list below.

1. Alcohols: Alcohol is a drying agent. If you have dry skin, alcohol will make your skin feel even drier. Alcohols go by many names so look closely at the label for words ending in -ol. Drying agents will further strip your skin and hair of necessary moisture.

2. Parabens: These substances are found in many beauty and skincare products. It is not a substance that people take the time to recognize but people do have allergies to them. the substance itself is added for shelf life-to avoid growth of bacteria in the product. With so many ingredients you wouldnt know if you were sensitive to parabens necessarily so try to stay away from them anyway.

3. Fragrances: Everyone wants to smell good. Plenty of skin care products contain fragrances to give them a nice scent. Unfortunately, these fragrances can cause skin irritations. A fragrance is created by combining chemicals. Any one of those chemicals can cause an adverse reaction on you face or elsewhere on your body.

4. Phthalates: The ph is silent. These chemicals are commonly added to plastics to make them more flexible. It is also strangely enough found in a variety of cosmetics, soap, lotions and nail polish. The substance is toxic to animals and can cause birth defects.

5. Dyes: Dyes give skincare products their color. Even if it is a beige color, you can bet that there was a dye added to your product. People with sensitive skin develop dryness and itching from various dyes. Try natural products that are dye free.

It is a little known fact that skincare products are not monitored by the FDA. We place our skin in the hands of these manufacturers when we buy their products. It is up to us to take our health into our own hands.

The next time you shop for skincare items, read the label carefully. This goes for all natural products as well. Eliminate as many of the above chemicals as possible from your products as possible. If the good substances are listed at the bottom of the ingredient list, chances are there are only trace amounts in the product and not enough to be of any benefit

All Natural Winter Skincare Tips

Some natural skincare tips help to protect our delicate features during the winter months. While winter is beautiful, our skin may not be due to the often harsh weather conditions.

It is not uncommon for skin to appear dry, red, and itchy during the winter months. Our skin lacks moisture do to the drying conditions of winter. Layering clothing doesnt stop the dryness from occurring. Moisturizing our skin is the key.

1. Get your eight glasses of water“When we lose moisture through our pores, it has to be put back. Our bodies are composed of mostly water and we risk dehydration if we dont replenish. Drinking lots of water is healthy for our bodies inside and out.

2. Nighttime care“We often forget to protect our skin while we sleep. Moisturizing night creams for face and body maintain a layer of moisture on our skin. The warmth helps the moisturizers to sink in and nourish our skin. Use a natural salve or balm on your skin right before bedtime for best results.

3. Dont neglect sunscreen“The sun still shines just as bright in the winter. We may not feel it because of the bitter cold temperatures, but the radiation is damaging to skin nonetheless. Before applying any makeup, add sunscreen to the face.

4. Use a humidifier“The air in winter can be very dry. Even in the house, the heat can have a drying effect on the skin and the nasal passages. To add bits of moisture to the air invest in a humidifier. There are two types: warm and cool mist. A cool mist humidifier adds moisture to the air but lowers the temperature a few degrees for comfort.

5. Exfoliate your skin“This can be accomplished with skin creams that contain microbeads, a sugar scrub, or by using a loofah sponge. Using gently circular motions, the exfoliant removes dead skin from our body. A weekly scrub allows healthy skin cells to absorb the moisturizers better and the skin can maintain a healthy level of moisture.

6. Lukewarm showers“Taking a shower at cooler temperatures keeps pores closed so they dont lose moisture. Shorter showers prevent skin dryness. Rinse off quickly after lathering up to keep skin soft. Apply a moisturizing lotion after toweling off.

Winter winds can wreak havoc with our skin and leave us irritated. Learn to protect your skin by adding these simple steps to your daily routine.

Holiday Shopping Tips – Save Your Money

Holiday ShoppingThere are many great things about holidays such as spending time and catching up with family and friends. Many will also say the gifts are the best part. Below is a list of ways to give great gifts and not spend the money you saved all year. Maybe with the money you save you can get yourself a gift.

1. Get Organized – Getting organized sounds harder this time of year than it has to be. Start by making a list of everyone you will need to buy gifts for during the holidays. Your list may be long when putting family, work colleagues, bosses, and friends all together. Do not worry about that because as you start to buy you can always cut the list shorter, at least you now know how many people you have on it. Take a highlighter and highlight all the people that you can group buy for. Say you have family friends on the list instead of buying something for everyone in the family why not buy something for the whole family.

2. Online Shopping – Take a day off work or set aside an evening with you, your computer, and that list you made earlier. Go to the websites that you would be buying from and see if anything is on sale or if there is free shipping. Many stores will have online specials, which means the same thing in the store will not be on sale but online it is. Stores online often offer free shipping during the holidays especially if you spend a certain amount of money. Get out your list and see how many people you can get done in one store and you may be eligible for free shipping. This sounds simple enough but if you add up gas costs and shipping from various stores this, all will add up.

3. Impulse Buying – Know what they call the stands by the registers with little gifts on, impulse fixtures. Impulse buying is something everyone does and is hard to stop. Instead of waiting until the last minute and running into the stores and buying whatever you see first start a little early and take your time. Although it sounds crazy start in the summer. If you are out and see something that your sister would love in August, pick it up and put it in a closet for storage. Just make sure to keep everything together so you are not running around the house trying to find the gifts and so you can refresh your memory on what you have.

4. Get Wrapping – Buying-wrapping paper seems cheap enough but have you ever thought to make your own. All you need is some brown craft paper or white butcher paper (which is must cheaper than normal wrapping paper) and some decorating supplies. (check here if your local craft store does not have any www.centralpack.com) Lay some of the paper out and call your kids into the room. Have the kids decorate anyway they want. If you have a gift for there, grandparents personalize it to them. People love the thought that goes into this and it is fun for kids. Find other creative ways to wrap like using newspaper or for smaller gifts pages out of magazines. This adds a little more fun to the gift without spending more money.

What Do I Do if My Debt Payments Are Higher Than My Income?

BillsBy Cindy Morus, Creator of the Pay Debt Quickly System

Question: I don’t know how to pay off my debt. My debts are more than the money I earn each month. What can I do?

Answer: That’s a tough spot to be in. Let’s look at the scenario that your debts are higher than your income but you’re still able to make the payments. It sounds like this is really worrying you – maybe that you won’t be able to make the payments soon. So, now is a good time to be asking this question. Since you can make the payments, every month, you’re actually in a good position to be able to eliminate the debt over the next couple of years (perhaps sooner). Here’s what to do…

1. From Minimum Payments to Fixed Payments. Convert all your current minimum payments to fixed payments. That means that if you are paying $55.55 this month, you’ll pay that every single month until the debt is paid off – no matter what the minimum payment is on your bill.
2. Stop Using Your Credit Cards. There’s no grace period on cards that have a balance so you start paying interest on new charges immediately.
3. Get Clear on Your Debt. List every one of your debts on a piece of paper (you can get my form here) so you know exactly what you’re dealing with. Sometimes it’s worse than you thought and sometimes not so bad but you won’t be able to really know until you see it all in black and white.

Get out of Debt

3 Steps to Getting out of Debt

By Cindy Morus, Create of the Pay Debt Quickly System

Are you struggling with debt? I’ve been there (and it was a major cause of my divorce). This is information I wish I had known then.

Step 1: Draw a Debt Picture Gather all your statements and enter your information in the Debt Payoff Info worksheet. You’ll need to know your balance, interest rate and current payment. Total the balances and the payments. Acknowledge that you used your credit cards to fund your lifestyle and move on to debt-freedom.

Step 2: Stop using your Credit Cards The credit card companies are masters at this game and if you’re carrying a balance, you’re on the losing end of the deal.

* Did you know that new purchases don’t have a grace period if you have a balance?

* Did you know that new purchases don’t usually get the existing teaser rate?

* Did you know that if you have multiple interest rates on the same card that most or even all of your payments will go to the balance with the lowest interest rate while the balances at the highest interest rate just keep compounding?

These are all great reasons to stop using your credit cards now!

Step 3: Convert Minimum Payments to Fixed Payments This is the beautiful part! Let me explain. When you get a home and auto loan, you pay the same amount of money for a specific amount of time and then you’re done and the debt is paid off. With a credit card, though, your payment is a percentage (usually around 4%) of your balance. As you make payments, your balance drops and so does your minimum payment. This is what will keep you in debt jail for a very long time.

However, you don’t have to make just the minimum payment. I recommend that you take the minimum payment from this month and pay that same amount every single month until it is paid off. Converting your credit cards payments to fixed payments can save years and years and thousands of dollars. Let’s see how much this method can save by looking at one client’s debt information:

Name Interest Rate Current Balance Minimum Payment

Visa 32.24% $970.86 $29.00

MasterCard 19.49% $1,506.00 $128.00

Cap One 16.24% $11,700.00 $277.00

Store Card 13.07% $1,407.00 $42.00

Auto Loan 8.09% $10,356.00 $237.00

TOTALS n/a $25,940.00 $713.00

Paying the minimums only will take 350 months and cost $49,007 (total interest is $23,067 almost double the current balances!). Changing the payments to fixed (paying the same amount every month as listed above) will take 47 months and the total will be $33,272 ($7,332 in interest). Total savings is $15,735 and over 25 years!! AND they didn’t pay any more than they paid this month.

An Easy Way to Save Money

Save Money Reduce DebtThe PDQ Factor

By Cindy Morus, Create of the Pay Debt Quickly System

It’s just about the beginning of a brand new year: a time to set goals, make plans, and start afresh; a time to dream of making more money, having a more beautiful body, and experiencing more love. I can’t help you with your body or your love life but I can show you some tools for making more money this year.

Have you ever heard of the PDQ Factor? Probably not, but you probably have heard of the acronym PDQ, which means “pretty darn quick” and that can be expensive: think fast food, fast cars, and fast women. This PDQ, The PDQ Factor will save you money. In fact, it can even make you wealthy over time.

To illustrate…take an empty glass and set it under the water faucet. Now turn the faucet to a single drip, or a slow trickle if you’re really impatient, and watch the glass fill up. It takes a while but it does get full. If you were thirsty, it wouldn’t have been nearly as fast as turning the faucet to full force but it was just as effective. The PDQ Factor is the slow trickle equivalent in the world of money. It stands for Pennies, Dimes and Quarters. Nickels count too, they just messed up the snappy title so we left them out; but don’t you leave them out of your investment toolbox.

Here’s an easy plan to make an extra $1000 this year. It won’t take much time or energy-really none at all. By investing just $2.74 a day-the cost of a designer coffee drink; a bad drive-thru meal; or 8 quarters, 5 dimes, 4 nickels, and 4 pennies, in just 365 days you will have an additional $1000 in the bank. Did you know that accumulating wealth is this effortless? Make a plan, stick to it and watch success sneak up on you in teen-tiny increments.

With no pain and all gain you’ve just set a financial goal; a goal that can be effortlessly reached by making a very minor tweak or two in how you live your daily life.

Break down your goal and see how many PDQ’s it takes! And don’t forget to start today!

The same thing applies to debt. If you’re struggling with debt and it feels like you’ll never see the end, you can apply the same principles.

Business Idea: Selling Ebook to Moms

Moms Read Ebooks on PDAsHow to Start a Business Selling E-books to Moms

Ebooks are fast becoming an in-demand product on the Internet. Found on many websites, written by authors of all walks of life and on many different topics, Ebooks can be downloaded for a fraction of the cost of traditional print books. If you are an online business offering products or services to moms or even if you’re new to online business, you can sell EBooks to this already huge and growing population on the Web.

The use of Ebooks is unlimited and because there’s no need for keeping a large physical inventory, you can sell them over and over again and adapt them to your customers’ needs. In short, this is an inexpensive business to start and has a high profit margin.

Why Moms Love Ebooks

In online communities everywhere, there are moms who enjoy learning new things and improving the lives of their families, by visiting websites, libraries and schools. Ebooks can be a great way of sharing that knowledge to this growing market of readers in a convenient format.

Not only are E-books easy to access for quick reference, but they are portable with the advent of Internet-ready cellular phones and iPods. A mom can locate an E-book on any topic of her choice, download to her portable device in a matter of minutes, and take it wherever she’d like to enjoy it later.

E-books can be read over and over again and they can be stored for later use. E-books are environmentally friendly; no trees have to be killed in order to print out books that will sit around on people’s bookshelves and collect dust years after they are read. And that’s a relief to many moms who are environmentally conscious and probably already have enough clutter in their house…books in digital format help keep things clutter-free.

How to Research Your Topics

Over the last five years, moms have contributed much to the Internet as a whole. Many moms have created an online presence on social networking sites, specialty forums, and personal blogs. These moms are a perfect source of research on topics you can create ebooks about. Plus, they are perfect candidates to help promote and sell your ebooks for you. Simple set up an affiliate program that allows them to earn a commission on the sales they refer to you.

Sell and Give Away

You can use Ebooks to build your business in many ways. One, as we’ve discussed is to sell your Ebooks, but giving away Ebooks for free can also boost your sales.

For example, a business selling beauty products can publish a free Ebook about how the company’s makeup can be applied to achieve the most desired looks. Or a natural products store may want to offer an Ebook explaining the origins and uses of the organic ingredients – which the store happens to sell.

People are starving for information, solutions to problems and more. Find out what they need and deliver it to them.

Creating Your Ebooks

Publishing Ebooks is not as hard as it may seem. Topics and resources can be found by a simple search online or can be drawn from personal experience. Ebooks are generally around 25-100 or so pages in length and offered in an Adobe Reader format.

But if you don’t want to or don’t feel you can put the ebooks together, you can hire a ghostwriter or…
