The holiday season is all about spending time with family and friends, for many of us though that consists of traveling. Here are some ideas for inexpensive holiday travel.
1. Be Flexible – It is hard to travel during the holidays especially in areas that get a lot of snowfall, this is why being flexible helps. If you are flying to see family plan ahead but if not you will still be able to make plans. If you are new to traveling a hint would be to travel on the actual holiday date. You will save money and still be able to travel from place to place. Check a few different airports for cheap flights. You may just have to drive a little to get a much cheaper flight.
2. Go Online – If you are looking to travel rather than going directly through the airline try a few other sites first. You can try such sites as expedia and priceline to find prices. After you go to these websites, compare prices and see what you can find.
3. Vacation Packages – Vacation packages are great especially when you are not visiting relatives on your vacation. Why not book your airfare and your hotel together at the same time. By doing this you will save a lot of money which is always helpful during the holidays. Expedia online offers great vacation package deals that will save you money.
4. Book Early – Many travelers will try to make last minute arrangements and in most cases this will work but not during the holiday season. During the holidays, flights and hotels fill up fast so if you wait you may be stuck with nothing at all. When you have an exact date of your travels go ahead and book, by booking up to 30 days in advance you will be able to save.
5. Besides Flying – There are other alternatives to flying which many of us forget about. You can drive but with gas costs rising sit down and see how many miles you will be going and how much gas that will cost you. In some cases, there may be a better alternative. Trains and Buses are still a great way to travel that many people forget about. With airplanes getting you so fast, many do not want to have that extra travel time. Add a little extra travel time and save a little extra money this holiday season by taking other forms of transportation.
