Christmas Decor on a Budget – Decoration Ideas
Holiday decorations are great to put up but they can also be harsh on the checkbook. Decorations can be expensive so we are here to give you a few alternative ideas to keep the cost down and the house still looking festive during this Christmas season.
1. Make them yourself – There are many things outside you can use to decorate your house during the holiday season. Find some pinecones and acorns and bring them inside. You will be able to make fun and unique centerpieces. Most homes have some sort of popcorn lying around so why not use that when decorating this season. All you need to do is string the popcorn (if the kids are helping make sure they do not poke themselves) if you want to add some color to the popcorn string add some cranberries.
2. Artwork – Every mom gets the gifts from school during the holiday season. Hang out some of the artwork that your kids give you from school or that they do at home. Every year save a few of your favorite things and put them up next year. If you continually save your favorite pieces, you will soon be able to fill your whole house.
3. Sales – Every year millions of Americans go out at the beginning of the holiday season to purchase decorations for the inside and outside of their homes. Why not this year hang up and put out what you have and then at the end of the season when everything is on sale get more. End of season sales are great for holiday decorations. The stores do not want the decorations so why not go and get what you like and put them in a box until next year. Grab the box next December and you will be all set.
4. Bulk Buying – The holidays are a great time to buy things in bulk. One of the things that you can buy in bulk is lights. You will be able to get inside lights and outside lights. If you often use these lights, you will find that many times one strand will not work or a few bulbs will go out. If you buy the lights in bulk, you will be able to replace the ones that do not work properly (which will make your home look better) or be able to add some in new places.
