Maybe it IS because shawty wants a thug…I have always been a big fan of Lil’ Wayne…and not a big fan of 50 Cent. Hopefully I won’t be a victim of a drive-by for saying this, BUT, I think Lil’ Wayne is FAR more talented than 50 Cent.
At least in our house there is no East Coast vs. West Coast drama, we live in the midwest and my husband only listens to a very limited amount of rap. But even HE likes Lil’ Wayne. What makes Lil’ Wayne so cool? His attitude, his overall demeanor, his realness. Is the base of his rap any different than what other rappers are singing about? Big cars, big thangs, dollar bills, gettin’ it, pushin’ it, workin’ it…um, NO, it’s not any different.
But his delivery, yes delivery, is supreme. He’s “technically” rapping…but he’s telling a story and it keeps you interested…he’s throwing some hot beats with it, and it’s making you turn up your radio on the drive home. By the time you pull in the driveway, you’re pretty damn well convinced that YOU are the one who “wears her hurrr down her back like mine”…then you realize, you like him because he is humble enough to make fun of himself.
He knows he’s not the best looking rapper, most clean-living – he is not, but he is entertaining and it is clear that is what he loves to do..and he does it well…so sad that other rappers (hi 50) don’t realize that. In a recent interview with Ryan Seacrest, 50 Cent criticized Lil’ Wayne for putting out the Lollipop Album (titled, Tha Carter III), stating that it had “been done before” by him, no less, with his Candy Shop Album (titled “The Massacre”).
Yes, he had a Candy Shop Album, no, it wasn’t good, one hit song and two so-so songs, whoopdy do, he’s just mad that Lil’ Wayne did the same thing, only bigger, better, and it blew up all across the stations and spilled over into other songs in a phenomenal way.

Hmmmm…50 Cent, Little Wayne…no comparison. Fiddy rules!
My daughter agrees with Jo Jo but I beg to differ. Although Lil’ Wayne is growing on me….slowly…. after hours upon hours of listening to him echo across my home, I’m with Alice, 50 Cent rules.
LOL…and you still can’t beat the classic,
“Go, go, go, go
Go, go, go shawty
It’s your birthday
We gon’ party like it’s yo birthday
We gon’ sip Bacardi like it’s your birthday.”
…ummm…maybe not so good for Mel’s daughter.
