The reeking you mentioned is the audacity of people to say things from an "unnamed source". Rob Pattinson indeed does bathe and he was amidst huge crowds all last year promoting Twilight and no one mentioned he had a stench. He does smoke and being on the run (not to mention being 22 years of age) I doubt he has time or facilities to get his clothes cleaned daily...and we know he had a limited wardrobe as we see the same clothes in photos pretty often. At no time has he appeared to me to be mentally unstable! He is a sensitive man ( shouldn't an actor be that?) and will talk about his emotions...to me that means he is MORE stable, not less! Check out his past interviews on the net and see how nervous he is which is obvious by his giggles and he feels the need to not have dead air space so he says "things". They just pop right out of his mouth which is a great deal of his charm...and I have not seen a whit of professional jealousy from this man. In fact he is under a huge amount of stress and surveillance in his private life and truly I think he is handling it quite well...I just hope it doesn't eventually wear him down.
