How Your Healthy Whole Body & Well-Tuned Vehicles are Similar

More often than not people will identify themselves by their body. With labels of tall, short, thin, muscular, curvy, healthy, and unhealthy and the like, there are actually very few who are able to step outside of these ‘traditional’ definitions we have adopted so readily. Our flesh holds a blessed vehicle for us to carry with us our personal joys and troubles, our victories and our challenges.

Rather than define it and let that definition rule how you treat your body, because really you are much more than tall or short, thin or curvy, why not take supreme care of it. Why not treat it as the wonderful vehicle it is?

We are going to use a common metaphor to relate to the human body. We will use a car as an example. They both happen to be vehicles which can last quite a long time if properly looked after and cared for. It makes no matter what style or model your car is, as long as it gets you from point A to point B. The same will apply to your body, as long as you take care of it.

How Do You Care For Your Car And How Do You Care For Your Body?
Often our cars receive better treatment than we do our very own bodies. From premium gas (no matter how much more expensive it is) to the scheduled cleaning on a regular basis, our automobiles are living the good life so to speak. Meanwhile, we are filling our bodies with junk food lacking in nutritional value, as well as not taking the time or money for basic care for our body and soul.

We find it easy to ignore the knocks, pings and unmistakable signals delivered to us by our body when some requirement isn’t being met, but the slightest slurp, whoosh or gurgle from our car kicks us into overdrive to get to the mechanic’s for a check-up and prescription.

“But it’s dangerous to ignore these sounds from your car.” This is in fact true, squealing brakes and grinding noises from the rear end of your car could cause an accident. The sounds and signals from your body are just as important to pay attention to.

Rather than continue on this path, appreciate your body in whatever shape, form, and situation it is in. It has carried you this far in life. It has taken you wherever you need to go and it hasn’t let you down. Start taking excellent care of it today. Embrace your healthy whole body because while you are much more than your body, you cannot exist physically and experience life without it.

Some Questions to Consider:
Your car will be unable to run or take you where you want to go without putting in the right grade of fuel. Are you running on empty? Using the best fuel? If you’re not, begin today to make small changes. Drink more water, replace empty calories with nutrients. Feed your body well and it’ll take you far.

There’s a blinking ‘check engine’ light on your dashboard, trying to be noticed. We are talking about self care here. Have you scheduled in some time for yourself, for checkups and some personal down time? Taking a walk or hike with family and friends, or a weekly date night with your sweetheart – there are many options available for taking a step away to enjoy the life you have been given, find the balance to make it all happen, and first and foremost, start paying attention to the signals your body is sending you.

It makes sense to take care of yourself in all the ways that you know how and are able to. You can wait until your car breaks down to get it repaired or you can choose regular maintenance, following up right away when you notice a rattle, a chug in the engine, wiper blades that don’t clear the windshield, any malfunction.

Last but not least, when you find the tread wearing thin on your tires, you replace them right? Each of us needs to take time out to evaluate the steady running of our lives, where we are and where we want to be. It’s normal for our needs change over time and ignoring these changing needs results in us ignoring who we really are – and this is not good for our health or our happiness.

So, next time you’re at the gas station or washing your car step back and remember that you wouldn’t be able to do any of those tasks if it weren’t for the divine vehicle you’re residing in – your body. Take great care of it; it’s the only one you get.

Prayer's Scientific Power

The mind body connection is full of powerful and amazing implications. Dr. Herbert Benson who founded the BHI, Benson-Henry Institute for Mind Body Medicine is a professor at Harvard Medical School. The institute is a part of Massachusetts General Hospital.

Dr. Benson believes physical health is highly influenced by behaviors, feelings and thoughts, as well as these same behaviors, feelings and thoughts being influenced by physical symptoms. Another of life’s amazing cycles revealed.

What is unknown is how thoughts, beliefs, and feelings affect the development of disease and recovery from disease. We know that some people are able to change their thoughts through prayer and seemingly miraculous things happen, like the complete reversal of a terminal condition. While we still have to figure out exactly how these thoughts and beliefs affect our body we do know that the mind and body communicate constantly. What our mind thinks, perceives, and experiences is sent from our brain to the rest of the body on a steady basis.

A powerful way people have found themselves influenced in regards to heath, both for themselves and others, has for centuries been through prayer. Using the mind body approach to medicine relies on teaching patients effective ways to reduce stress and change their natural thoughts, alleviating negative behaviors, and embracing their beliefs in order to control their health as they prevail over illness.

Among all of the religions; Judaism, Buddhism, Islam, or Christian, there is a commonality. They all hold deep belief systems in reference to prayer for healing. Online prayer groups, healing rooms and community prayer groups are readily available for everyone all over the world. An article published in the Washington Post says, “Surveys have found that perhaps half of Americans regularly pray for their own health, and at least a quarter have others pray for them.”

This does not imply the religious are the only advocates of health-altering prayer. There are citations in quantum physics of a phenomenon where particles from afar affect the behavior in others in a multitude of mysterious ways. This could bring about the conclusion that having people pray for you can actually send energy in your direction, and this energy can, and does affect the health of the person for whom the prayers are being said.

In addition to citations made in the domain of quantum physics, there have been an abundance of various studies conducted over the years which find have found a strong parallel between prayer and health. Theories are being tested continuously as the reasons for this are still unclear.

Researchers found in the results of one study, conducted with 990 cardiac patients at Saint Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Mo, how prayer improved health based on a combined score of various measures which were created by researchers for the particular study in question.

Heritage.org conducted an interview with Dr. Harold G. Koenig, a tenured Duke University associate professor of psychiatry, an associate professor of medicine, director and founder of the Center for the Study of Religion/Spirituality and Health at Duke University. He cites during this interview several smaller studies. “(In these studies)You find a connection between religious involvement and immune and endocrine function; in five of seven studies, the religious experience lower mortality from cancer; in 14 of 23, they have significantly lower blood pressure; in 11 of 14, they have lower mortality; and in 12 of 13, clergy mortality is lower.”

There’s no doubt that prayer has a significant effect on our health and mortality. As scientists are able to better define parameters and control groups we’ll continue to gain more insight on the hows and whys of this indisputable connection. Until then, it’s powerful to know that our thoughts and beliefs have a direct effect on our health and mortality and the health and mortality of others.

Daily Affirmations for Well-being and Happiness

Setting goals or desiring a change in your life is much easier than achieving goals or making change happen. That requires determination, the right attitude and a few handy tools to get the job done. Daily affirmations are a powerful tool which makes changing your life for the better a positive and empowering experience.

What are Affirmations?
You could consider affirmations as antonyms to complaints. They are opposites, in the same sense of a complaint being, “I’m so darned tired all the time.” The affirmation sounds more like, “I’m full of energy, alive and awake.”

The goals we have and the changes we desire are represented by affirmations. It’s important to state them positively and in the present tense. There are no rules to follow concerning the appropriateness of any affirmation; it could be material, spiritual or a combination of both types.

Many of us simply desire to feel happy. We want to embrace that sometimes elusive sense of well-being. This desire is tested by our day to day difficulties, challenges, and by our deeply instilled habits which produce the contrary – we desire a sense of well being but actually create the opposite. Daily affirmations can help you on the path to reaching this goal of general happiness and well being. Here are a few affirmations taken from the Ernest Holmes book, The Science of Mind, which was originally published in 1926.

- I am happy and complete today and forever. Within me is that which is Perfect and Complete. It is The Spirit of all Life, Truth, and Action. I am happy in the sure knowledge of the Inner Light. I cannot be sad or sorry, but must radiate Joy and Life, For Life is within me now. I am happy and complete. .

- Perfection is already accomplished. I do not have to wait for the Perfect Life. I am that Perfect Life here and now. Today I express the Limitless Life of the All Good. Today I manifest my Completion in every part of me. Today I am saved. Here and now I am healed.

Affirmations don’t have to be longwinded paragraphs, they can be simple sentences designed to inspire and uplift. For example,

- I am perfectly happy in body, mind and spirit.

- I am happy, radiant and healthy and radiant.

- I am a radiant being filled with light and love.

- I love and accept myself exactly as I am.

- I am now able to express love to those I meet.

Creating Your Personal Affirmations
What exactly do you want from life? Needless to say, this might be difficult to fathom for many people. Should this be your personal situation, simply ask yourself what it is you don’t want, followed by the opposite of this to create your personal affirmation. It will sound something like, “I don’t want to be affected by stress when at the workplace.” The affirmation will become, “I feel at peace at all times no matter the circumstances around me, or what challenges I face. I know God will provide for my every need.”

Use positivity and the present tense when phrasing your affirmations. Once you can easily identify your affirmation or affirmations, post them somewhere which allows you to see them often. Some suggestions could be the mirror in your bathroom, on your laptop or computer, your planner, or even your journal. Repeat these affirmations a minimum of three times a day, and turn to them when you’re feeling particularly challenged. Eventually your affirmations will be memorized, and turning to them in times of need will come automatically to you.

Daily affirmations designed to embrace and bring about a sense of well being and happiness is a terrific way to initiate the affirmation process. Once you have the ball rolling, consider tracking your affirmations and the changes in your life as a result. This will help you embrace the practice and to evaluate what other areas of your life might benefit from daily affirmations.

Try Mineral Eye Shadow for Great Effects

What will people see when they look into your eyes? Hopefully they will see how beautiful they look made up with mineral eye shadow. Use the variety of colors in the mineral eye shadow line to create different effects for day and night.

Why Mineral Eye Shadow?
Traditional eye shadow has the tendency to clump when you apply it. The powder collects in the creases of the eyelids after being worn all day. If you go out at night, the eye shadow might need to be reapplied to create the effect you want.

Mineral eye shadow has all the colors but also some other major benefits. First of all, mineral makeup is made from natural earth minerals. Some manufacturers add fillers and extras for shelf life but you can find a manufacturer that doesn’t add these things.

Also, healthy skin starts with mineral makeup. Here are just a few of the benefits of wearing it:

Sun protection from harmful ultraviolet rays

Reflective properties that hide fine lines and wrinkles

Non-comedogenic (means it won’t clog the pores and lead to skin irritations)

Feels lightweight when applied

The colors in the mineral eye shadow come from one particular mineral: iron oxide. The oxides provide amazing colors that can create a range of looks from subtle and unassuming to bold and dramatic. Apply the eye shadow in the morning without the need to reapply it before a night out on the town.

Mineral Eye Shadow Effects
Use eye shadow to get the look you want for your eye. It takes a little practice but with a few helpful hints you can be a pro in no time. For instance, using lighter colors on your eyelids causes the eyes to appear to recede. Darker colors will do the opposite and pull your eyes into the forefront. If you apply the lighter color to the entire eye area, it has a minimizing effect.

Use lighter colors for a natural look during the day. In the workplace, you only want the natural beauty to show. If you want your eyes to “pop” add a single layer of mascara to your lashes. Use a shade that complements the skin tone.

At night, darker more vibrant colors are needed to get your eyes to do their job of attracting attention. Apply some loose mineral powder to the entire eye area as a foundation for your color palette. To create an alluring effect, use three colors that work well together: a light, a medium, and a darker color. The darker color can be used wet and applied with an eye liner brush across the bottom and the top lid close to the lash line.

Use a lighter hue over the entire eyelid. Use matte or a shimmery color. Apply the darker hue along the upper lid lash line outward to the crease of the eye. Create a “V” by making a sharp turn upwards towards the brow bone under the eyebrows. The middle or medium hue is used next to cover the lower half of the eyelid. Smudge the medium color and the dark “V” with your index finger to create a smoky look to your eyes.

Mineral eye shadow has vibrant colors, long lasting wear and the right ingredients for a healthy beauty regimen. Find the right mineral eye shadow for you. These long-lasting shadows in a variety of colors are all-natural and non-irritating. Learn more at http://www.me-naturally.com.

Don't Overlook The Importance Of Good Skin Care

Good skin care is essential to graceful aging. Babies have smooth, soft skin that is wrinkle free and moist.

Over time harsh elements in the environment wear on the skin making is dryer and tougher. With age comes wrinkles and sagging in the skin. Good skin care can slow down the harmful effects of time and the environment.

Do you ever wonder why babies have soft and smooth skin? This is because people are born with good skin but because of time and environment it becomes wrinkled and saggy. That is why taking good care of our skin is very important if you want to age gracefully and beautifully.

The cells travel from the subcutaneous tissue to the epidermis. They move continuously and flake off when reaching the top. Because of aging the outer skin or epidermis becomes thinner because less collagen is produced. This can cause the skin to lose its elasticity making it sag and wrinkle.

Aging also causes the decrease of sweat glands leading to a more dry skin. Cells in the innermost part also become smaller contributing more to the sags and wrinkles. Adding up to that is the UVA and UVB rays of the sun that makes the epidermis thin. Sunrays make the collagen breakdown faster that is why our skin becomes even drier.

Cleansing and moisturizing is very essential for the skin. To get rid of the dirt and dead skin cells you need to cleanse it. Pimples and acne are major causes of dirty skin. Though cleansing can help prevent problems such as pimples it can also make the skin dry because it removes the natural moisture. This is why the use of moisturizers is very important to help replace its natural oils.

Liquid cleaners are much better than the usual traditional soap since it has moisturizer and Vitamin E that helps prevent drying out. Moisturizers on the other hand help maintain skin’s elasticity. Heavy moisturizers should be applied at night and thinner ones at daytime.

Water plays a very important role in moisturizing the skin naturally. It hydrates the skin and cleans the pores from inside. Always take good care of your skin it’s your way of aging with grace and beauty.

Healthy Diets to Gain Weight

Diets to gain weight are actually not that hard to find, although some people may find the thought of wanting to gain weight outrageous and odd. Isn’t weight loss what everyone wants on TV and Hollywood? Isn’t it what is on everyone’s mind after indulging on a hearty buffet?

It is most often emphasized that you need to lose weight to look like your favorite stars in Hollywood but it just isn’t always so. For most women all over the world, it often has been difficult to lose weight. But in some cases, there are those who struggle to gain pounds, either in fat or in muscle.

Those who are naturally skinny are thought to be the lucky ones by most people. But, sometimes, they overlook the fact that there are those who want to look physically attractive by gaining some muscle. Some of those naturally skinny people may want to join a sport but they are deterred by the fact that they can’t gain weight easily in order to have a well-developed physique.

Wanting to gain weight is a valid concern for some people, and while it isn’t as overblown as weight loss, diets to weight gain are definitely around. The slogan of diets to gain weight is basically the same as diets to lose weight: eat healthy.

Junk foods and extra fatty meals are still not suggested, as all it does is make you fat. If you just want to become fat, then go on right ahead and engorge on junk foods and fatty meals, but they will only make you a lot less healthy than is beneficial or desirable. You need to gain the right kind of weight; to be precise, you need to gain muscle weight.

You should also avoid caffeine and nicotine. They trigger metabolism which isn’t a good thing if you want to build up body mass. Eating frequently after you work out can also help you gain muscle weight.

You should also eat late at night, but take care not to let it mess up your sleeping habits. At night, you don’t burn off calories as much since your metabolism slows down, thus, helping you gain weight.

Some food groups are more advisable for those who are in a diet to gain weight. Those needed calories can be obtained from milk-based products like milk, yogurt and cheese. You can also get the right kind of calories into your body from grain products like rolls and bread, and from fresh fruit juices.

Protein is a must at every meal as it helps build muscle which will lead to the weight gain that you’re looking for. Those that are rich in protein are dairy products, dry fruits and nuts like almonds and cashews.

Weight gain is a valid concern for an unknown lower percentage of the world’s demographics. It’s your preference if you’d rather be slim or thin but it doesn’t always work for everyone. There are those people who’d look better with extra meat and flesh on their bones. Fortunately, there are diets to gain weight that can give others the opportunity to get the right body that they really want.

Open Enrollment for Health Insurance: What You Need to Know

Not all health insurance plans are created equal, nor are they created to last forever. If you are dissatisfied with your current coverage, or if you want to add dependents to your health plan, you have the option to make changes to your health insurance during the open enrollment for health insurance.

The open enrollment for health insurance is a period when eligible employees can change their current health plan. You can add or remove dependents, increase or decrease coverage, switch to other health insurance providers after reviewing other health insurance options, or opt out of coverage entirely. Of course, you have the option to stay with your current provider, in which case, you don’t have to do anything.

During open enrollment for health insurance, you are not usually required to provide evidence of insurability, regardless of pre-existing medical conditions, when you switch to a different health insurance provider. You and your dependents cannot be denied enrollment for pre-existing conditions during this period.

During open enrollment, keep in mind that everything will be more expensive than what you currently have. Health care costs are rising and there’s no escaping it. You will see higher premiums, higher deductibles, higher co-pays and higher co-insurance. Make sure the costs are clear to you. Staying with your current plan may be easy, but other plans might be more cost-effective for you. Remember to choose what’s right for you. You know the medical issues you and your family face. Does anyone have a chronic condition? Is there a family history of incapacitating disease? Do you have children? Is someone in your family on prescription medications?

Don’t let price alone dictate your decision. Lower costs might mean less coverage – something you can easily miss if you don’t do your research. Check that your doctors are in the network of the different health insurance plans. Out-of-network means more money to be paid. You don’t want that.

If you miss the open enrollment for health insurance, you cannot change your health insurance plan until the next year. Or unless there has been life status changes such as a birth, adoption, marriage, divorce, a dependent child over the age of eligibility, or a change in employment for you or your spouse.

Use the open enrollment for health insurance to your advantage. If you need to make changes to your current plan, then do so. Mark your calendar with the dates for open enrollment for health insurance. Study your options. The last thing you need is health insurance that you will pay an arm and a leg for, but won’t pay for your arm and leg if they get hurt.

Review: Jill Marie's "Healing the Food Chain"

healingby Deborah Lindholm

In Healing the Food Chain, Founder of Serenity Vibration Healing, Jill Marie says, “Imagine the madness and hopelessness energetically imprinted into the meat and byproducts of a caged chicken or feedlot cow.” Now, consider what this negative energy does to the health of both you and your loved ones when you eat.

Jill Marie also encourages readers to, “Think about the fact that food becomes energetically devitalized when it is genetically altered, irradiated, sprayed with chemicals and laced with additives.”

The good news is that Jill Marie doesn’t expect nor suggest we give up our eating habits based on this information but to simply take measures to alter the food’s energy. While at first this may sound like an impossible feat, it is in fact quite possible to alter the energy of food. “Like the rings on a tree, the energy of every living thing in the plant and animal kingdoms is recorded within its body. Energy memories radiate through each plant, animal and human and those energies transfer into the food chain,” says Jill Marie.

Food’s energy can be cleansed through prayers before consumption. “Prayer transforms the vibrations in food to a more neutral and wholesome energy immediately,” continues Jill Marie. And similar transformations have been scientifically studied the effects of prayer on water crystals and microwaved food.

This negativity affects our spirits, our bodies and our health and eliminating this negative energy is a simple process. One does not need to invoke any particular traditional prayer, what matters most is the energy and the intent behind the prayer.

Author, Jill Marie invites readers to take their blessing one step further by spreading respect and gratitude through focused intentions and a new form of directive prayer that takes seconds. She offers readers a quick and easy one key trigger word, said silently that activates a comprehensive cleansing of the energy in the food they’re focused on. Ultimately it is not only about your health and vitality but also about creating a positive impact on our food chain and thus bettering the world around us for everyone.

Healing the Food Chain, by Jill Marie gives readers, looking to become empowered to change their food and the food others consume, the steps to accomplish miracles. These tangible steps result in improved health and an optimistic viewpoint. Jill Marie has created an influential and inspirational recording. Healing the Food Chain awakens, empowers, and provides real measures to alter the negative energy which has for so long entrenched our food chain. You now have the power to change your whole body.

What are Acupuncture Meridians & What Do They Mean

by Deborah Lindholm

Dating back to 3000BC or perhaps as far back as the Stone Age, there has been said that acupuncture is in fact one of the oldest means of medical care on the planet. Acupuncture and meridians being confusing enough, trying to figure out the reason why they contribute to better health can be quite the task. We will take a look at the exact nature of this practice by asking and answering some questions, specifically those surrounding acupuncture meridians.

The Meaning of Acupuncture

Acupuncture is the practice of using very fine needles to access and manipulate the energy in your body. The energy system flows throughout your body connecting everything. It can be accessed and influenced through 500 various acupuncture points connected by specific points called meridians. They are the pathways of your positive, and negative energy that influence every system and function in your body. This energy can become blocked or imbalanced and it is the practice of acupuncture to eliminate blockages and balance energy for optimal health.

The Meridians

There are twelve main meridians which connect the 500 acupuncture points, and they are found along your legs and arms. With balance they provide optimal health and happiness. When unbalance they result in life and health being unbalanced as well. The Yin and Yang can be compared to the flip sides of the same coin. This is where the balance needs to be in order for all aspects to be positive and aligned.

All aspects of life which are negative and dark, passive and cold or wet and feminine fall amongst the ranks of the Yin. All aspects positive and bright, active and dry or hot and masculine fall within Yang. The Yin and Yang are also found within the 12 main meridians.

The locations of the twelve meridians are:

At the inside of your arms, body to fingertips – Yin

At the outside of your arms, fingertips to face – Yang

Along the outside of your leg from your face to your feet – Yang

And along the inside of your leg from your feet to your body – Yin

The following organs are affected by the 12 main meridians:

1. Lungs

2. Large Intestine

3. Stomach

4. Spleen

5. Heart

6. Small Intestine

7. Urinary Bladder

8. Kidney

9. Pericardium

10. Triple Warmer – This meridian affects the thyroid and the adrenal glands which regulate your metabolism and affect your immune system and has a profound affect on your stress reaction.

11. Gall Bladder

12. Liver

Yin Arm meridians include your lung, heart, and pericardium and the Yang Arm include your large intestine, small intestine, and triple warmer. Your leg Yin Meridians are your spleen, kidney, and liver and your leg Yang Meridians are your stomach, bladder, and gall bladder.

Each of your organs, as you probably already know, play a valuable and essential function in the effectiveness of your overall health and the optimal functioning of your body. When one is out of balance, blocked, or not functioning optimally your entire body and even your emotional state can be significantly affected.

There is a reason why this practice of acupuncture and the balancing of the body’s energy through accessing meridians is still practiced today – it works.
