Top 5 Tips to Be Productive Working from Home

When working from home, there are many things that can get us off track. Making some changes in our habits and shifting our mindset will enable us to move forward and attain our goals. Here are my top 5 tips for being productive when working from home:

1- Make a list and check it twice.
Making a list of the absolutely most important tasks is the first step in getting focused to achieve more. Going through that list and prioritizing what needs to get done will help you clearly see how to plan your working hours. It’s so easy to get distracted when working from home. There are lots of seemingly “good things” to do but they may not be the ones that give the best results. This is why creating and prioritizing a list is so helpful.
2- Discover when you are most productive.
Have you stopped and analyzed at what hours of the day you’re able to do more? Figure this out so that you can structure your working hours to capture those moments. The best time to finish the more difficult tasks on your list is when you’re feeling rested. If you find yourself motivated about getting something done, make sure to ride that “productive streak” and accomplish as much as you can.
3- Don’t push too hard.
There are times when ideas simply don’t flow. If you find yourself “stuck” on a task, vary the activity to something that is not so hard to do but can still help your business. Taking moments to rest in between difficult tasks will also help you move forward. There’s a fine line between being focused and ignoring personal needs to try to get more done. If you push too hard, you might end up experiencing burnout. It’s important to balance things out so that you don’t end up being emotionally and physically drained.
4- Reward yourself.
Discover things that you genuinely love to do and make them your rewards for doing the more difficult tasks. Decide that you’re only going to be doing those fun things once you have done your main work. Making “free time” a reward for getting something done will encourage you without depleting your energy.
5- Celebrate your accomplishments.
So many people look at what they haven’t done instead of what they have accomplished. Their perspective is to always look at the cup half empty instead of seeing the cup half full. This is a negative way to view life. No matter how hard things are, we should always make a conscious effort to be positive and look at the bright side of things. By focusing on the good and what has been done you will have the necessary motivation to move forward.
